2024 Farmers Insurance Open One & Done Picks

The 2024 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines is here. Year in and year out, this event provides a great tee to green test and rewards the best ball-striker in the field. The last few weeks, golfers could have gotten by with their B- or C-game, but that will not fly around this place.

Torrey Pines is one of the longer tracks on Tour and is lined with thick rough and tricky bunkers. Playing out of the fairway is step one this week, and truly the most important stat to consider. Let's take a look at a few One and Done options for the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open.

Ludvig Åberg +2200

I have been waiting to see Ludvig Åberg tee it up at Torrey Pines. He has gotten it done at these shorter, positional tracks thus far in his short career, but he can really show off at a course like this.

Åberg has already proved to be one of the best "total drivers" on Tour, and he will be playing out of the fairway and closer to the pin at a much higher rate to the field. That will raise his birdie percentage and overall make things much easier for him. With his driving ability, Åberg's floor should be raised tremendously, making him a super safe One and Done selection.

Will Zalatoris +5500

If not for his recent results, Will Zalatoris would be one of the favorites in this event. There are truly not many golf courses that suit Zalatoris' game better than Torrey Pines. Clearly, he is not in the best state right now, but we don't get many chances to run him out at a golf course that is perfect for him.

He made the cut last week and looked really solid over the weekend. If Zalatoris has found anything at all, Torrey Pines is a beautiful spot to run him out. In four starts in San Diego, Zalatoris has two top-10 finishes, one of which was a runner-up. The public knowing he is not 100% will have his ownership down a ton. Zalatoris could be a great selection if you are looking to get a tad different this week.

Justin Suh +15000

Justin Suh is the "let's get crazy" One and Done selection of the week. A former top amateur in the world, Justin Suh is a great longshot selection this week. His player profile is the vintage "driver-putter" build. He is not elite off the tee but has stretches where he can really turn it on. However, he is elite at putting. In his short career, he has been a top-of-the-line putter throughout.

The X-Factor for Suh is the irons. In 2023, he was a perennial loser on approach, but he has found something recently. Although he missed the cut at the Amex, Suh gained 1.7 strokes on approach. If he matches that number on approach this week, we are in business.

In Suh's short career, he has made the cut in two out of three trips to Torrey Pines. The last two trips resulted in great iron weeks. Difficult conditions may be where Suh shines best because his top results are at the toughest of tracks.
